On-device intelligence

On-device intelligence that stays on your Mac.

LumaTake uses Apple's on-device frameworks for transcription, noise removal, click-to-zoom, and filler-word cleanup. No audio uploaded, no API key, no cost-per-minute. Your recordings never leave your disk.

Local SpeechAnalyzer

On-device transcription with real word timing.

Apple SpeechAnalyzer gives LumaTake per-word timestamps for karaoke captions using the English model bundled with macOS. First-word leading-silence correction scans the first 30 ms window above -30 dBFS RMS and snaps word 0 to the real onset.

Local Smart cuts

Cleanup edits that ripple-close in preview and export.

Filler-word detection builds source-time cut ranges for um, uh, like, and you know. Silence gaps over the threshold collapse to a 200 ms beat, merge with filler cuts, and mask splices with dual-track 50 ms crossfades.

Local AUSoundIsolation

Noise cancellation, while recording and at export.

Live AUSoundIsolation sits in the audio engine between mic EQ and the mixer. Export can run a second offline pass with a 0-100% wet/dry slider; macOS 15+ uses the higher-quality voice model.

Local Click sidecar

Automatic zoom moments, still editable by hand.

A sandbox-safe global event monitor logs left-click timestamps and positions. LumaTake coalesces clicks within 500 ms, generates cubic ease-in-out keyframes, and lets you override factor, hold duration, or focal point before export.

The first three things to notice

The ScreenStudio polish, the CapCut timeline, and privacy that happens before encoding.

Launch build Editable zoom

Click-to-zoom that stays editable.

Every left-click is captured during recording, stored in a sidecar, and turned into a draggable moment on a dedicated timeline track. Coalesced 500 ms click bursts, cubic keyframes, 1.2x-3x factor, and 0.5-2.5 s hold duration stay editable.

Launch build Space-aware

Privacy blur before the file exists.

Draw Gaussian or pixellated regions before or during recording. The blur applies at frame time, and full-display blurs stay anchored to the Space where you drew them.

Launch build Piece timeline

CapCut-grade timeline editing.

Clips are draggable, splittable, trimmable rectangles. Reorder with snap-to-edge ghost preview, Shift-click multi-select, ripple-delete, bulk speed changes, and cursor-anchored zoom.

Record. Edit. Go live. Ship.

One native app from capture to final export.

Five capture modes, livestreaming, a piece-array timeline, and exports for every platform — every step stays on your Mac. Drag, swipe, or scroll the rail.

Go live

Go live to YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook from the same app.

Stream the moment you stop recording — no second tool, no handoff. LumaTake encodes on-device and sends camera, screen, mic, and system audio in one feed over RTMP, then keeps a local copy you can edit and cut down afterward.

YouTube

Go live, then keep the VOD locally.

Stream to YouTube Live and hold on to the full-quality recording on your Mac for a recap, Shorts, or a tighter edit.

Twitch

Camera, screen, and system audio in one feed.

Bring your webcam, your screen, and game or app audio together without wiring up a separate broadcaster.

Facebook

One setup, every destination.

Paste a stream key once per destination. Your scene, mic, and privacy blur carry over to whichever platform you go live on.

Record + live

Repurpose the stream the same day.

The live encode also writes to ~/Movies/LumaTake/, so you can caption it, clean up the audio, and export clips for every platform right after.

Editor

Caption, clean up, color, and retime without leaving the timeline.

LumaTake treats the recording as an editable project, not a file you trim once and throw over the wall.

Minimal, TikTok-Reels, Karaoke, Documentary, Editorial, Education, Tech, Creator, and Experimental styles. Per-word emphasis comes from Apple SpeechAnalyzer, and edits reflow into preview and export.

Smart Cleanup

Take out the friction, not the cadence.

Transcript-aligned filler word removal can cut audio or strip captions independently. Silence trimming collapses long gaps to a 200 ms beat and merges overlapping cleanup ranges. Dual-track 50 ms crossfades hide cut splices, while recording-time Voice Isolation and export-time AUSoundIsolation stay local.

Cursor system

Smoother than the recording itself.

The always-on cursor ring is Catmull-Rom smoothed across 15 Hz samples, with click-bounce animation synced to the highlight. Eight quick-pick colors, size, stroke width, preview, and export all use the same controls.

Local-first privacy

Your recording stays on your Mac.

No upload, no telemetry, no LumaTake account. Recordings live in ~/Movies/LumaTake/; projects live in ~/Library/Application Support/LumaTake/Projects/.

01

Privacy blur is mandatory-respect.

Tokens, passwords, customer data, and NDA material never reach the encoded file.

02

Space-aware by design.

Switch macOS Spaces and a full-display blur disappears for the Space where you did not draw it.

03

Sandbox-safe click capture.

Click-to-zoom uses public macOS APIs only and does not require Accessibility permission.

04

No cloud lock-in.

LumaTake is local-first. Files stay on your disk until you decide where they go next.

FAQ

Specific answers before you install.

Does it run on Intel Macs?

Yes. macOS 14.0+ on Apple Silicon and Intel.

Where do I get LumaTake?

Exclusively on the Mac App Store — coming soon. One subscription unlocks every feature, billed through your Apple Account. Restore Purchases with your Apple Account, and manage or cancel anytime in App Store settings.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Recordings, projects, and exports stay on your disk in ~/Movies/LumaTake/ and ~/Library/Application Support/LumaTake/. No telemetry, no cloud account.

Can I livestream to YouTube, Twitch, or Facebook?

Yes. Add a destination's stream key and go live over RTMP or RTMPS with your camera, screen, mic, and system audio in one feed. The live encode is also saved to ~/Movies/LumaTake/, so you can edit and repurpose it right after.

Can I use my iPhone as the webcam?

Yes. Continuity Camera is detected explicitly in the camera picker. Pick it just like any other webcam.

Can I edit captions after recording?

Yes. Caption text is editable in the inspector. Edits flow into the live preview and the exported MP4. Filler-strip and per-word karaoke timing keep working through edits.

How does the click-to-zoom work?

Clicks are captured during recording, sandbox-safe and without Accessibility permissions. The editor reads the sidecar file and shows each click as a draggable moment on a dedicated timeline track. You can change zoom factor, hold duration, or drag the focal point on the preview.

Can I redact sensitive info?

Yes. Drag privacy blur regions before or during recording. The blur applies at frame time, so the original pixels never reach the file. Blurs are Space-aware on full-display recordings.

What format does it export?

MP4 with HEVC video + AAC audio, plus GIF export for short shareable clips.

Does it support multiple displays?

Yes for full-display recording; the region picker covers the main display only at this time.
